Activism to Stop Violence against Women
White Ribbon Day (25 November) signals the start of the 16 Days of Activism to Stop Violence against Women, which ends on Human Rights Day (December 10).
In Synod, a motion and presentation was passed on Domestic and Family Violence. Since Synod the number has risen from 72 to 78 Women dead through Domestic and Family violence.
We encourage you to take action to stop domestic violence against women.
What can you do?
- Take the oath – let the world know where you stand
- Be an active bystander
- Take part in a local event
- Wear a white ribbon or wristband – The simplest thing you can do is to wear a white ribbon or wristband on November 25 and during the weeks leading up to the day. Wearing a white ribbon or wristband is a personal pledge that the wearer does not excuse violence against women, and is committed to supporting community action to stop violence by men against women.
