Encounter wins ARPA Awards for Excellence

Bishop-Greg-Lane-Way-Low-ResThe Encounter magazine took out two awards at the recent Australasian Religious Press Association Awards for Excellence 2016 at the recent awards dinner held in Sydney on Saturday September 3.

ARPA (the Australasian Religious Press Association) is an ecumenical Christian communication network for Australian and New Zealand publications and their editors, journalists, designers, contributors. The awards were based on publications published in the calendar year 2015.

The Encounter took out Bronze in the Best Regional Publication category, as well as Bronze in the Best Original Photography category.

The Best Original Photography recognised the work of volunteer photographer Kathleen Mackay for her portrayal of Bishop Greg Thompson entitled “The City: A Place of The Spirit”.

“The photographer, Kathleen Mackay, has placed the subject of the story at the point of interest. With careful shading and positioning using surroundings, she has conveyed the concept of the person, his purpose and his profession,” the judges comments read.
