This Week Around the Diocese
Bishop Ross Bay from the Anglican Diocese of Auckland visited the Diocese last week. We snapped this photo of Bishop Ross and Bishop Peter as they popped into the office.
Anglican Schools Australia Summit
Bishop Peter and Rev Matt Shorten both attended the Anglican Schools Australia Summit in Melbourne in May. The summit drew together a selection of bishops, chaplains, principals and board members to focus on the ethos of Anglican schools. Matt has a key leadership role among chaplains. Here Matt and Sarah Hobba (another chaplain) are reporting to the gathering around their strategic conversations around support for new chaplains, integrating service learning and chaplaincy recruitment and training. Bishop Peter and Matt were part of round-table conversations about a range of practices in Anglican schools.
Anglican Care Senior’s Day
Anglican Care held a successful Seniors Day last week at their brand new retirement living village Northwood. Over 90 attendees filled the centre with eager ears for the talks by Natalie Pulsford, Newcastle’s only Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, followed by finance tips by Financial Planner Julian Payne. Guests then enjoyed a free lunch and sweet treats before General Manager of Community Care, Chris Giles concluded the day with her talk on remaining happy at home with the right support.
A sense of humour
Sometimes we just need a good laugh, and the Parish of Cooks Hill have shared this great church sign this week. Laurel or Yanny?
