Nominated staff from across the organisation attended a small gathering at Fort Scratchley to celebrate International Women’s Day.
It was wonderful to spend the morning with so many highly talented women who inspire those around them every day.
Special guest speaker and former Samaritans Student Accommodation resident Natalia Hogan said:
“To me, being a strong female leader means breaking cycles.
It means becoming the woman you needed when you were younger.
It means showing young girls, and young boys, that where you start does not determine where you finish.
Today, standing here in front of women who influence hundreds, maybe thousands of lives, I want to say this:
The work you do matters more than you will ever fully see.
The stability you provide.
The belief you offer.
The opportunities you create.
You may never stand on a stage like this and hear the full story of the ripple effect, but I am one of those ripple effects.
When you give safety, young people gain confidence.
When you give structure, they gain ambition.
When you give opportunity, they gain freedom.”
A special thank you to our wonderful panellists Reverend Toni Wein, Cayley Fairley, and Penny Curran-Peters.
