NAIDOC Week gave the Lakes Grammar – An Anglican School community a meaningful opportunity to come together in celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, stories, and achievements.

Across the campuses, students and staff took part in a vibrant program of learning and connection.

Special assemblies, led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, provided moments of reflection and pride while activities including art, weaving, music, Dreaming stories and friendly competitions brought culture and creativity to the forefront.

The week also featured special guests Alanah and Aunty Tammy, whose contributions helped deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of culture, country, and community.

This year’s national theme, 50 Years of Deadly, marked five decades of NAIDOC Week and invited students to reflect on the strength, resilience, leadership and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Through classroom learning and shared experiences, students explored the people, stories and cultural knowledge that continue to shape our nation.

Lakes Grammar is grateful for the opportunity to learn, listen and celebrate together.

The college looks forward to continuing to honour the cultures of the Country on which we are privileged to live and learn throughout the year.
