Scone Grammar School secondary students earned the title of Upper Hunter Champions at the recent Science and Engineering Challenge.
It’s a remarkable achievement that showcases their innovation, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Competing against schools from across the region, students tackled a series of hands-on STEM challenges including building bridges, balsa wood planes, wind turbines, grab machines, and fish traps.
They also put their critical thinking to the test by solving coding puzzles and electrical circuit challenges.
Presented by the University of Newcastle, the Science and Engineering Challenge is a nationwide STEM outreach program designed to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators.
The competition encourages students to apply their knowledge in practical ways while developing the collaboration, creativity and resilience needed to solve real-world problems.
Scone Grammar students excelled throughout the day, demonstrating outstanding communication, ingenuity and teamwork to secure the championship title.
Their success reflects not only their hard work and enthusiasm, but also the growing strength of STEM learning at the college.
Congratulations to our Upper Hunter Champions and thank you to our teachers and staff, including Head of Mathematics and Science, Mrs Cutler, for supporting students with this outstanding achievement.
We are incredibly proud of the way they represented Scone Grammar School and can’t wait to see what comes next.
