This year marks a very special milestone for Anglican Care as we celebrate 70 years of service, care and connection across our communities.

For seven decades, Anglican Care has provided high-quality support grounded in compassion, dignity and respect.

What began after World War Two as a refuge for the Anglican community has grown into the trusted aged care ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle.

As Chief Executive Officer of Newcastle Anglican, I am proud to acknowledge the generations of residents, families, staff, volunteers and supporters who have shaped the last 70 years.

It is our long history, and the work happening within Anglican Care every day, that fills me with great pride and ensures we will continue to provide the care our communities deserve for many years to come.

– John Barriga, Chief Executive Officer

There are moments in aged care that can’t be measured by systems or reports: a resident rediscovering a long-loved hobby, a staff member taking the time to listen, a hallway brightened by something created with pride, or a family seeing their loved one feel truly at home.

These quiet, deeply human moments sit at the heart of our story.

That heart is reflected in the residents who find connection through creativity, conversation and purposeful activity.

It is reflected in the families who place their trust in us to care for their loved ones. And it is reflected in generations of staff whose warmth, skill and commitment have helped shape Anglican Care into what it is today.

Over the past 70 years, aged care services have expanded, communities have evolved and the expectations of care have rightly grown.

We look ahead with excitement as we continue to offer care that is not only delivered, but shared — so every person feels known, valued and not alone.

– Bernadette Twomey, Executive Director Residential Aged Care
