Wearing the NSW Blues jersey is a dream for many aspiring rugby league players, but Jack Mellor made it a reality at the young age of 11.
The Manning Valley Anglican College (MVAC) student was selected to play in the School Sport Australia Rugby League Championships in August.

Jack was picked to represent his state after an outstanding performance at the NSWPSSA Rugby League Development Camp at St Gregory’s College in Campbelltown.
Over five days, he joined 33 of the best under-12 players across NSW. Jack took part in coaching sessions that focused on skill development, game awareness, teamwork, and leadership.
Throughout the camp, he showed great commitment, sportsmanship, and a strong desire to learn.
This is a great achievement. It shows Jack’s dedication, talent, and hard work in the selection process.
Sporting pathways are an important part of the schooling process. They offer an opportunity for students to shine outside the classroom and put The MVAC Way dispositions into action.
In Jack’s case he has made it to the top – a first for MVAC.
Head of Junior School, Mr Marcus Walker, said Jack had a bright future ahead.
“Joining the MVAC rugby league team for local gala days, to representing NSW at the top level shows what school sporting pathway programs are all about,” Mr Walker said.
